Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
We are a fully inclusive school. We ensure that all students achieve their potential personally, socially, academically and emotionally in all areas of the curriculum (regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical disability or educational needs).
Pupils are identified as having SEN when their progress has slowed or stopped and the interventions, strategies and resources put in place are not working. When this happens, we use specific need-based plans and pupil profiles which help support their development and speed up progress.
This document aims to give an overview about our SEND provision at Walbottle Academy. It may not list every skill, resource and technique we use in order to achieve this, as these are continuously developed and used to modify our provision to meet the changing needs of individual students.
